Tommy McKenzie
Tommy McKenzie began playing the piano at the very early age of two. By the age of seven, he was taking formal lessons and performing in various churches in south Mississippi. At the age of 13, he began playing for a local family group and traveled around south MS and southeastern LA. After graduating from North Pike High School in 1999, he attended Trevecca Nazarene University until 2003. It was there that he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Business. His applied area of study was piano performance. After graduating from Trevecca, Tommy began playing piano for a group out of MS called The New Life Quartet. Crowds began to respond really well to his playing. In 2006, The New Life Quartet became Strong River Quartet and this is where Tommy continued to play until February of 2007. From February of 2007 until July of 2007, Tommy played for a group called Crystal River. During this time, he had the opportunity to perform in places where he had never been before. After playing for Crystal River, Tommy moved back to the Nashville area and began producing a recording projects while at the same time touring with some more notable names in Christian music. Tommy has shared the stage with the McRaes (Runaway Train Tour) and most recently the Bowling Family. Many will also recall seeing him at work at such events as Mississippi Quartet Convention and Gospel Music Nashville. He also volunteers in several ministries at his local church. If nothing else, Tommy hopes that in his music as well as the music of groups he travels with or records that God will be glorified and His name be uplifted. I can tell you that this writer was very impressed with the work Tommy did as our producer. The music was top of the line and his work cannot be faulted in any manner, as he cannot be described in other way but professional.
We look for Tommy to become one of Nashville's top Producers in years to come.

Tommy still call's McComb, Ms home and always will.

Sounds Like: "Don't really know how to categorize it. I have influences from all over the place. I like to take aspects from traditional southern gospel all the way to movie soundtracks and combine the sounds to see what I get. The results are usually unique and surprising. What can I say? I love music and I love making music".

Bringing Southern Gospel back to south Mississippi

As many artist will tell you Southern Gospel Music in the last several years has "gone a miss" in South Mississippi. The inside joke among artist is "you can't get a booking below I-20". Although this may be close to "True", doesn't mean that it has to stay that way. Some are working very hard to change this problem. Its our thought that the love of our music is still here, its just that we aren't working hard enough to bring it back. But that is changing, slowly but surely.
With the Mississippi Qt. Convention moving back to Hattiesburg last year, and now this year bring in some of the "Big Boys" (www.msqca.com) along with 20+ Mississippi Groups this should be amazing.
The Sheriff's benefit on the coast each year is growing by leaps and bounds.
Now we have learned that Jones County Sheriff's Benefit has booked a major group and has set a date in January, and more groups will be announced later.
Yes, Southern Gospel Music is coming back to South Mississippi!

And if you want to have a truly great worship service at your Church, invite one of our many MGMA Artist.
